Lease-to-own program

A new company, Pride of Ownership Partners, has developed a lease-to-own program that makes it possible for families to live in a home, have maintenance covered during the lease period, and have half of the monthly rent set aside for up to three years to go toward the cost of the home.

The company buys homes in good shape, installs new appliances, carpeting, paint and landscaping and leases the homes with an option to buy. The company requires a one-month security deposit and the first month’s rent upfront.

Current homes offered by the company are in DeKalb, Gwinnett, Henry and Cobb counties with prices typically in the low to mid-$100,000s and monthly rents starting at $1,000.

"We tried to develop a program that will serve as an option for people who thought they had no option, even when credit is an issue," said Timothy Cabrera, chief operating officer of the company.
